Beatrice “Bea” Hicks Smith Coleman, 92, formerly of Richmond Road, Rockingham, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 while residing at Hillside Nursing Center in Wake Forest, North Carolina. She was born August 8, 1918 in Rockingham, North Carolina. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and Williamson’s Bible Class, in Hamlet, North Carolina. Bea Coleman was employed at Kay’s in Rockingham for a great number of years. Survived by two sons, David Lee Smith, his wife Deborah Smith, of Kennewick, Washington and Thomas Allen Coleman, his wife Patricia Coleman, of Zebulon, North Carolina. Four Grandchildren, Paula Smith Placa of Aberdeen, North Carolina, Debra Smith Cable of New York, Amelia Faith Coleman and Patrick Allen Coleman of Zebulon, North Carolina. One Great Granddaughter, Natalie Placa of Aberdeen, North Carolina. Sister Martha Hicks Smith of Lumberton, NC and brother’s Ellis Burdette Hicks of Hamlet, NC, Kent Hicks of Hamlet, NC and John Hicks of Columbus, NC. She is preceded in death by her husbands Thomas Jefferson Coleman and David Clyde Smith. Father Robert Lee Hicks, mother Mildred Williams Hicks. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Pastor Randy Bishop of the First Baptist Church in Hamlet officiating the service. The family will receive friends following the service at Carter Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hamlet.
