Carolyn Webb Gulledge

Celia Carolyn Webb Gulledge passed peacefully in her home with family Saturday, January 29, 2011. Carolyn was born into the loving family of Elmer Arthur Webb and Celia Alma Lisk Webb on November 1, 1936 in Mineral Springs Township of Ellerbe, NC. She had seven brothers and one sister. She will be greatly missed by her loving and devoted husband, her brothers, and sister who were a constant source of help and support and her many friends. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Perry Gulledge of Rockingham, NC; three sons Robert Craig Gulledge of Bradenton FL, Perry Vance Gulledge (and wife, Laura) of Jamestown, NC, and Robin Ashley Gulledge (and wife Rose) of Crofton MD; brothers Herbert Elmer Webb (and wife Linda), Charles Kenneth Webb, Henry Alfred Webb (and wife Sylvia) - all of Rockingham, and sister Hazel Anne West (and husband Harry) of Sarasota, FL; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren and a host of other loving extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Leo Frederick Webb, Bobby Lisk Webb, Mitchell Dolan Webb, and James Barry Webb, all of Rockingham. Carolyn was a homemaker and thrived on making a nice home for her family. She was an avid supporter of her devoted and loving husband. She received a diploma in Computer Operations from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte. She worked as a bank teller, data processing supervisor, and church secretary. She retired from the Union County Tax Collections Office in 1998. She was also a Mary Kay Cosmetics Consultant, Ballroom Dancing Instructor, and Line Dancing Instructor. She loved people and enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting and dancing. After raising their own family and retirement, Carolyn and Robert returned to Rockingham in 1999 after 45 years to enjoy time with local family and lifelong friends. The family will receive family and friends from 6-8pm Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Funeral services will be conducted at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 1217 Sandhills Rd. Rockingham Wednesday at 3:00 pm with the Reverend Charles McKnight officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park in Rockingham. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the many friends and family who brightened her last weeks with their visitations and meals.
