Mrs. Jacqueline Landfear Long, 81, of 518 Stanley Ave., Rockingham died Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at her home. She was born January 29, 1926 in Kalamazoo, MO, a daughter of the late Eleanor Phoebe Mitchell and Benjamin Walton Landfear. Mrs. Long was a member of the Church of the Messiah in Rockingham. Along with her husband, she was the owner of Longs of Rockingham, Inc. She was an avid golfer. A service to celebrate her life will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, April 13th in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Tally Bandy officiating. Entombment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park. Surviving are her children, Walter (Watt) F. Long, IV of Rockingham, Benjamin Long and wife Deborah of Beaufort, SC, Ginger Long Henry of Wellington, FL, and Alexander (Alex) Long and wife Donna of Myrtle Beach, SC; nine grandchildren, Zachary Long, Ryan Avant, Adyson Long, Jamison Long, Evan Long, Julia Henry, Jacque Henry, Sierra Long, and Alexis Long; and one great grandson, Jayden James Richards. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. Long, III in 2000 and a grandson, Walter Franklin Long, V in 2002. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 to 7 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Richmond County, 1119 US Hwy 1 North, Rockingham, NC 28379.
