Lucille Midgette Lampley, 82, of 114 Liberty Dr. Rockingham, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Firsthealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Mrs. Lampley was born February 6, 1925 in Richmond County a daughter of the late Guy Midgette and Fannie Terry Midgette Shaw. She was a member of Cordova United Methodist Church where she has been a Sunday school teacher, president of the United Methodist Women and a choir member. She was postmistress in the Cordova Post Office for several years before beginning her career with Burlington Industries. Her husband, James Floyd Lampley preceded her in death in 2005. Surviving are her daughters, Arlene Lampley of Garner, Terry Staley and husband Tom of Millers Creek, NC, niece, Linee` Wallace of Salisbury, nephew, Jerry Thomas and wife Barbara of Rockingham and her close friend, Joyce Lisk of Cordova. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday from Cordova United Methodist Church with Rev. Milford Oxendine, Rev. Harrison Lampley and Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home on Liberty Drive.
