Ella Ruth Edwards

Mrs. Ella Ruth Diggs Edwards, 86 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 17, 2011. Ella Ruth was born November 15, 1924 in Richmond County a daughter of the late John and Lula Saunders Diggs. She was a loving and kind Mother who devoted her life to the Lord and caring for and loving her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Eddie Edwards, brothers Audrey Diggs, and Albert Diggs, and a sister Mae Lassiter. She is survived by her son Buddy Edwards and his wife Sherry of Rockingham and her daughter Cindy Crowson and husband Johnny of Rockingham, grandchildren Amanda Ransom, John Edwards, and Jennifer Edwards, great grandchildren Brittany Bullard, Emma Edwards, Bryan Ransom, Paige Ransom, Christian Williams, her step-grandchildren Jennifer Thompson, Melissa Staub, and Bill Dawkins, and her step-great grandchildren Will Thompson, Jacob Staub, Jenna Rose Staub, and her close friends Rosa and Pat. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2:00 at Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Rev. Russell Edwards and Rev. Sonny Diggs officiating. Interment will follow at East Side Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and at other times at her daughter’s home.
