Christine Southerland Yow

Christine Southerland Yow, 92 of 405 Deweese Ave Rockingham, N.C. died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at her son’s home. Mrs. Yow was born January 31, 1919 in Sampson County a daughter of the late Herbert and Florence Hooker Southerland. She grew up in the Methodist Orphanage in Raleigh N.C. She worked as a secretary at L.J. Bell School in Rockingham N.C. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Michael Sykes and Rev. Allison Farrah officiating. Interment will follow at Eastside Cemetery. She is survived by her sons Tommy Yow and wife Julia of Daphne, Alabama, Charlie Yow and wife Renate of Whispering Pines, N.C. and Chris Yow and wife Marcie of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham from 7:00-9:00 P.M.
