Ann Chambers Annie Marie Hudson McNeill Chambers, 80, of Rockingham died Tuesday, May 01, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Chambers was born in Anson County in 1927. She moved to Richmond County as a young child with her parents, the late William (Bud) Thomas Hudson and Annie Myrtle Hasty Hudson. Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her husbands, Benjamin Thomas (BT) McNeill and George Washington Chambers, also by one sister Rosa Caudle. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Rev. Mike Stirk officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. She is survived by her children Larry Thomas McNeill and wife Kimberly Joy Artus of Harrisburg, N.C. Barbara Ann McNeill Murray and husband, John J. Murray, of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She has 5 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. Mrs. Chambers was a Christian and a member of the Roberdell Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for twenty-five years. Mrs. Chambers was employed for many years at Sandhurst Hosiery Mill. She owned and operated with her husband, BT, McNeill’s Grocery. After his death, she opened Ann’s Apparel where she did sewing and alterations until she had to retired at age of 79, due to her health. Sewing was always her passion.
