Wyman Lewis Thomas

Wyman Lewis Thomas, 82, of 139 Chance Dr., Rockingham, died Friday, April 01, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Mr. Thomas was born June 27, 1928 in Montgomery County, NC, a son of the late William Franklin and Gertrude Elizabeth Morris Thomas. He was a member of the Rockingham Church of Christ and the Rockingham Lions Club where he had served as treasurer for many years. He had been employed with Tom’s Chips and Moore’s Chips Companies. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Benson and Bill Thomas, and sisters Catherine Thomas and Frances Hinson. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Peek Thomas of the home; sons, Corey Thomas of Durham, Clay Thomas and wife Donna of Ellerbe, Lewis Thomas of Ellerbe, Chris Orr and wife Jeanie of Rock Hill, SC, Vernon Grossman-Orr and wife Mareida of Greensboro; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and a brother Ray Thomas of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday at the Rockingham Church of Christ with Rob Albright officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6:00 –8:00 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home on Chance Dr. Memorials may be made to the Rockingham Church of Christ, P.O.Box 95 , Rockingham, NC 28380.
