Roberta D. Hamer

Mrs. Roberta D. “Robbie” Hamer 79, of 719 S. Caroline Street died Saturday April 23, 2011 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital, Rockingham. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am. Wednesday April 27, 2011 at Carter Colonial Chapel in Rockingham, Rev. Jim Hines will officiate. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery. Robbie was born May 25, 1931 in Carthage, NC a daughter of the late Walter and Ida Hannon Dowd. She graduated from nurse’s training in Hamlet, NC and provided 35 Years of compassionate care to others, until her retirement. She was a member of Cordova United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William Thomas “Bill” Hamer and son Ronald Loy “Ronnie” Hamer both of the home, a brother Dan Dowd of Carthage, NC and two sisters; Carrie Cruse of White Rock, NC and Virginia Dowd of Carthage, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Tuesday evening at Carter Funeral Home.
