John Franklin Lucas

John Franklin Lucas, 78, of 128 Bennett Rd., Ellerbe, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg. Mr. Lucas was born October 12, 1932 in Montgomery County, a son of the late John and Ruth Shuping Lucas. He had served his country in the US Army and had been employed in the textile industry. Surviving are his wife, Louise McCormick Lucas of the home; sons, Johnny Lucas of Norwood, Barry McCormick of Ellerbe; daughter, Jennifer Taylor of Rockingham; brothers, Ed Lucas of Lexington, Jones Lucas of Camden, SC; sisters, Nannie Nichols and Mildred Hammer of Asheboro; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday in the Carter Funeral Home Ellerbe Chapel with Rev. James Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on Bennett Rd.
