Rev. Orian Seymour Nunn, 78, of 395 Lee Thee Church Rd., Rockingham, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Rev. Nunn was born September 11, 1932 in Stokes County, a son of the late James Robah and Mary Beatrice Nunn. He was ordained as a Free Will Baptist Minister in 1962 and pastored several churches in North and South Carolina during his lifetime. He was also the owner and operator of Westside Body Shop for 30 years and was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict. Orian was raised by sharecroppers and never lost his love for farming and the land. He was preceded in death by brothers, Folger and Gary Nunn and sister, Lunary Nunn. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Shepherd Nunn of the home; sons Keith Nunn and Donald Nunn, both of Rockingham; daughter Sandy Thompson of Asheboro; a brother, Wallace Nunn of Rockingham; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Webster and the Rev. Frank McQuage officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe.
