Jimmie Boyd Phagan, 73, of 803 Dogwood Lane, Rockingham, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Richmond Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Hamlet. Mr. Phagan was born March 6, 1938 in Pemiscott County, Missouri, a son of Eloise M. Phagan and the late Kenneth Phagan. He was a member of Sweet Haven Church and for many years was a Welding Instructor with Richmond Community College. He later was employed by Cherokee Brick Company in Sanford. He was preceded in death by a daughter, DeeDee Tutor, and a brother Johnny Phagan. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Shy Phagan of the home; sons, Michael Phagan of Hamlet, David Phagan of Asheboro, Adam Phagan of Rockingham; daughter, Tina Parker of Seagrove; ten grandchildren; his mother, Eloise M. Phagan of Shreveport, Louisiana; brothers, Pat Phagan, Chuck Phagan, Marion Phagan, all of Texas, Steve Phagan, David Phagan, Chris Phagan, all of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters, Pam Rutherford of New Albany, Mississippi, Brenda Brown of Ripley, Mississippi, Margie Stamm, Judy Stroud and Cindy Kelly, all of Shreveport, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, at Sweet Haven Church with Rev. Mitchell Roller and Rev. Lester English officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 3:00 – 4:00 pm Tuesday at the church and at other times at the home on Dogwood Lane.
