Betty Chavis Dunn

Betty Ann Chavis Dunn, 74, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Manor Care of Pinehurst. Betty was born September 20, 1936 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Hillard and Pearl Lee Chavis. She was an active member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church and had been employed with Fruit of the Loom. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Chavis and his wife Ann. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Carl W. Dunn of the home; son, Larry Dunn and wife Renee`of Hampstead, NC; daughter Kelly Frye and husband Patrick of Rockingham; grandchildren, Martin Yakiomivch, Kristen Fisher and husband Rusty, Ashley Frye , Evan Frye; great granddaughter, Allison Dawkins; sisters, Jean Greene and husband Joe of Rockingham; Evelyn Liles of Glen Ellen, IL; brothers Tom Chavis and wife Blenda of Charlotte, Richard Chavis and wife Faye of Rockingham; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Beverly Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Biles and Rev. Wayne Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the Frye home, 1026 Fayetteville Road, Rockingham. Memorials may be made to Beverly Hills Baptist Church, 110 Kemberly St., Rockingham, NC 28379.
