Edith Turner Lampley, 91, of Rockingham, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at The Hermitage Retirement Center in Rockingham. Mrs. Lampley was born July 2, 1920 in Marlboro County, SC, a daughter of the late James and Susan Parker Turner. She was very active in the Rockingham Wesleyan Church and was an award winning Avon Representative for over 40 years, consistently placing in the top 3 representatives in the district. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Lampley, a son, James A. Lampley, Jr., and brothers and sisters, Gurley Turner, Bertha Turner, Annie Turner, Stella Turner, Nell Hoard, Shadie Vorwick, Carl Turner, Fairley Turner and Lizzie Griggs. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Edward Snyder of Rockingham; daughter-in-law, Kay Lampley of Cape Carteret, NC and granddaughter, Kim Griffin and husband Eric of Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Huber and Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 9:45 – 10:45 am Saturday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the Snyder home, 577 Midway Road, Rockingham.
