Mrs. Mildred Caswell Covington McCall, 97, formerly of the Derby Community, died on Saturday, July 2, 2011at Rex Nursing Care Center of Apex. Mildred was born on January 9, 1914 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late John D. and Alice Watkins Covington. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Clifton Hall McCall. Mildred & Cliff lived in Raleigh for years and loved her church and friends at Creedmoor Road Baptist Church. They later moved to Ellerbe, where she lived for 29 years. There she attended Jones Springs Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school until she was 89 years old. She is survived by her son, Ed McCall (wife Pat) and her grandchildren, Scott McCall (wife Terri), Faith Grum (husband Brad), Great grandson Christopher, Great granddaughter’s Payton & Emily, and Great, Great Grandson Colton. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, July 4, 2011 at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe, North Carolina with Rev. Dena White and Rev. Bob Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Jones Springs Church cemetery. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff of Rex Health and Rehab of Apex, and Hospice of Wake County for their kind and loving care. I had no shoes, and complained, until I met a man who had no feet.
