John Tyson Chavis

John Tyson Chavis, 86, of Rockingham, died Monday, July 11, 2011 at his home. Mr. Chavis was born September 1, 1924 in Marlboro County, SC, a son of the late John Wesley and Lyida Grant Chavis and was a farmer. Surviving are his wife, Grace Lunsford Chavis of the home; son, John T. Chavis, Jr of Rockingham; grandchildren, Matthew Chavis and wife Brittany of Winston Salem, Ashley Grace Chavis of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Wallace, SC with Jerry Wayne Shaw officiating . Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
