William Larry Dawkins

Larry Dawkins Mr. William Larry Dawkins 47, of 111 Calvert St. Rockingham died Tuesday June 19, 2007 at Duke University Medical Center. Larry was born November 4, 1959 in Richmond County a son of Bill and Faye Webb Dawkins. He worked as a mechanic at Owens Illinois. Larry was a 5th degree black belt and 4 time tough man champion. He was once the North Carolina welterweight champion. Larry was willing to teach and help anyone interested in the sport that he loved so much. His avid working out is what helped keep him going to the very last day. He trained Mickey Dixon, Devin Roller and his favorite sparring partner his son, Brandon. Funeral services will be held Friday June 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Sweet Haven Church with Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. He is survived by his wife Vickie Covington Dawkins of the home, one son Brandon Dawkins of Murrell Inlet S. C. and one daughter Brandy Dawkins and Adam Phagan of Rockingham; one sister Glenda Faye Roger of Rockingham, two Grandchildren Landon Phagan and Devin Roller. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm at Carter Funeral Home of Rockingham and at other times at the home.
