George Washington Reynolds

Mr. George W. Reynolds, 94, of 1040 Grassy Island Road, Ellerbe, died Monday, August 15, 2011 at his home. Mr. Reynolds was born December 18, 1916 in Surry County, NC, a son of the late Boss and Mary Beth Goins Reynolds. He was a veteran of the US Army, a retired farmer and carpenter, as well as a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Ellerbe. George loved his church and his church family, where he delighted in the gracious giving of himself to his church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lou R. Goins, Maude R. Luck, Ethel R. Covington, Forestine Tickle, Lester Reynolds, Burnie Reynolds, Tom Reynolds and Merritt Reynolds. Surviving are his wife Myrtle Meacham Reynolds and son George Ronald “Ronnie” Reynolds, both of the home; brother, Romie Reynolds of Candor; sisters, Lola Hinson of Candor and Jessie Faye Snead of High Point. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Wednesday at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with Rev. Elizabeth W. Polk officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home on Grassy Island Road. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 340, Ellerbe, NC 28338. Carter Funeral Home of Ellerbe is assisting the Reynolds family.
