Peggy J. Currie passed away on September 2, 2011 at Moore Regional Hospital. Peggy was born July 13, 1939 in Rockingham, a daughter of the late Jesse Garrett and Geneva English Currie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Patricia Currie Terry, brother Carson G. Currie, and two nephews, Mike Terry and Tommy Currie. Peggy graduated from Rockingham High School with the class of 1957. Peggy worked thirty years and retired with Harris-Teeter. Peggy lived in Tennessee for many years before coming back home. She worked for State Farm in the Term-Care Division before returning to North Carolina. She worked with the elderly as a Care-Giver in both Richmond and Moore Counties, along with having worked with AOS out of Southern Pines for six years. Peggy is survived by a sister JoAnn Currie Terry of Ellerbe, NC, a brother Bill Currie of Holden Beach, nieces; Judy Price of Ellerbe, Kim Davenport, Carla Blanton, and Robin Craven, all of Aberdeen, two nephews; Danny Terry of Cordova and Randy Terry of Ellerbe. Numerous great nieces and nephews, as well as, great-great nieces and nephews. Jayden, one of her great nephews, called her “Grandma”. She was delighted with this “title” and playing the role of “Grandma”. Peggy loved and adored all children. The Peggy Currie Family will be receiving friends at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham, Saturday, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and at other times at the home of JoAnn Terry. Funeral Services will be held, Sunday, September 04, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Ledbetter United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Eastside Cemetery.
