Richard "Slim" Gary McDonald

Richard Gary “Slim” McDonald, 58, of Rockingham, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at his home. Mr. McDonald was born May 4, 1953 in Richmond County, a son of Robert Cecil McDonald and the late Lucille Maner McDonald. He was a member of McDonald Baptist Church and had served as president of the Sandhills Trail Riders Club. He was a graduate of Rockingham High School, Class of 1971 and owner and operator of Gary’s Appliance Service. Mr. McDonald was devoted to his family and has served as caregiver to his father for several years. Surviving are his father, Cecil McDonald of Rockingham; and brothers, Bob McDonald of Hope Mills and Ken McDonald of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at McDonald Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Tyson officiating. Interment will follow in the McDonald Family Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at his father’s home, 185 Scott McDonald Road, Rockingham.
