Mildred Louise Clarke O'Brien

Mrs. Mildred Louise Clarke O’Brien, 80, of 573 Richmond Road Ext., died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Hospice Haven of Richmond County. She was born August 31, 1931 in Southern Pines, NC, a daughter of the late Jesse and Josephine Key Clarke. She was of the Methodist faith, a member of the Red Hat Society and a Senior Center Line Dancer. Prior to her retirement, she was a manager with Sara Lee Hosiery.She was preceded in death by a son James Harold O'Brien and brothers;J.C. Clarke, Jr., Ben Clarke, Harold Clarke, Sam Clarke, Joseph Clarke and John Clarke. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James William O’Brien, Jr. of the home, a son Thomas O'Brien and wife Cynthia of Rockingham, daughter Paula O'Brien White and husband Maurice of Clemmons, NC, grandchildren; Chad O'Brien and special friend Stephanie Leviner, Justin O'Brien, Matthew White and wife Cherie, Steven White and wife Carrie, great grandchildren Carly, James and Corey White, brothers; Carl Clarke of Cordova and Charles Clarke of Falls Church, Va. Also surviving are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm. - 8:00 pm Tuesday evening at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home on Richmond Road Ext. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday at Glenwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Joel Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
