Martha Hewitt Cleaver, 80, of Rockingham, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, October 24, 2011 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mrs. Cleaver was born December 24, 1930 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Edgar Tate and Annie Mae Lundy Hewitt. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Rockingham where she had been a member of the Ladies Ministry. She had retired from Sara Lee Hosiery. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Cyrus “Bo” Cleaver of the home; son, Charlie Cleaver and wife Claudia of Rockingham; daughter, Linda Raines of Rockingham; granddaughters, Charlene Brigman and husband Winford, Sandy Butler and husband Mike; great-grandchildren, Holli Lewis, Mandi Helton, Shawn Butler, Joe Butler; great-great-grandchildren, Elena Lewis and Matthew Cleaver; and a sister, Ida Mae McNeil of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday in the Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Rev. Harris Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 1:45 – 2:45 pm Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
