Jack "Buck" Benjamin Arnette

Jack Benjamin “Buck” Arnette, 81, of Rockingham, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at Rockingham Manor in Rockingham. Mr. Arnette was born August 10, 1930 in Dillon, SC, a son of the late Rev. Roy and Mamie McPhatter Arnette. He was a veteran of the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army, having served in Wiesbaden, Germany during the Korean War. He was member of West Rockingham United Methodist Church, where he had taught Sunday School for over 50 years, mainly the Mary Cribb and Boys Youth Classes, was a member of the choir, a MYF counselor and former Sunday School Superintendent. He was employed with White Poultry Company as a route salesman and retired from Perdue as distribution supervisor. He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Betty Webb Arnette of the home; daughters, Luann A. Adams and husband Steve of Greensboro, Jacqueline Arnette of Holden Beach; 3 grandchildren, Shannon Crum, Rev. Steven Adams and Holly Mills; 6 great-granddaughters and a brother, Bonnie Arnette of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at West Rockingham United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Horton, Rev. Donald Dawkins and Rev. Steven Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to West Rockingham United Methodist Church, Choir or Hospitality Committee, 217 W US Hwy 74, Rockingham, NC 28379.
