Colleen Lunceford Chavis

Colleen Lunceford Chavis, 80, of 105 Pecan Road, Rockingham, died Thursday, December 22, 2011 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mrs. Chavis was born March 12, 1931 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Will and Hattie Lee Lunceford. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and retired from Roberdel Childrens Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie “ Pud” Chavis, sons, William Gary Chavis, Roger L. Chavis and Johnny Ray Chavis, and a grandson, Roger L. Chavis, Jr. Surviving are two sons, Archie Chavis, Jr. and Kenny Chavis, both of Rockingham; a daughter, Kim Chavis-Blake of Rockingham; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace L. Chavis and Ruby L. Coward, both of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Sweet Haven Church with Rev. Butch Park officiating. Entombment will follow in the Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home on Pecan Road.
