Joann Hinson Stogner died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Dec. 23, 2011. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lewis T. Stogner, Sr, and her four sons, Lewis T. Stogner, Jr. (wife Pat Nevius), Robert E Stogner (wife Peggy Stogner) Robin E. Stogner, Joey M. Stogner (wife Dietke Stogner), by eight grandchildren (Niki, David, Jackie, Jessica, Alexis, Kaylee, Andy and Bailey) and by one great grandson, Caden, as well as by a large extended family of nieces and nephews. Joann was born on May 17, 1935 in Rockingham, NC, the daughter of Robert L. and Josephine Edwards Hinson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert L. Hinson and by her sister, Edith Dawkins. She was an active member of Pee Dee United Methodist Church, and worked for many years as a seamstress. Her wonderful cooking and her homemade biscuits were appreciated for years by her family at home and at her church. Visitation will be at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham on Monday, Dec 26, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by services at 2 p.m. at Pee Dee United Methodist Church. Following the services, burial will be at Eastside Cemetary, Rockingham. The family is being assisted by The Rev. Mic Griffin and The Rev. Frank McQuage. The family will also be receiving friends and family at home on Legrand St, Rockingham. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Pee Dee United Methodist Church, Rockingham.
