John Norman White

John Norman White, 79, of 418 Firetower Rd. Ellerbe, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at his home. Mr. White was born July 4, 1928 in Stokes County, a son of the late William Thomas and Addie Nelson White. He was an active member of McLean Presbyterian Church , and had served as an elder. He was owner and operator of White’s Oil Company for many years. His brothers, Fred, Bobby, and William (Wick) White and his sister, Pauline (Peeny) McBride preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Katie Thompson White of the home, sons, Tommy White and wife Donna of Ellerbe, and Ken White and wife Cindy of Rockingham. He was a loving and devoted grandpa to Beth White of Charleston, SC, Adrienne White of Rockingham, Hayley and Hannah White of Ellerbe. Also surviving are his sister Shirley Bailey and husband David of Biscoe, NC. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 10 at 10:00 AM at McLean Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Stone and Rev. Bob Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on Firetower Road.
