Perry William England, 86 of Rockingham, formerly of Gastonia, died Saturday August 11, 2007 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Mr. England was born October 23, 1920 in Gaston County, a son of the late Broadus Henry and Bertie Wilma McAllister England. He was educated in the Gastonia and Lowell public schools, received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from High Point University, attended graduate school of Arts and Sciences at Newbury College and did post graduate work in Law and Medicine at Duke University. He was a former member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and a Benedictine Oblate at Belmont Abbey. Currently he was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Lake Wylie, SC. He was a published writer, had been a statesman with various federal appointments, member and past commander of American Legion Post 23 in Gastonia, a member of the VFW, Navy League of the US and had been the owner and operator of Olde World Imports. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Irene Froneberger and son, Michael Stephen England and one sister Louise England Walker. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery in Gastonia with Father Fabio Refosco officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
