Charles Edward Snyder

Charles Edward Snyder, 82 of Ellerbe, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Charles was born March 18, 1929 in Richmond County, a son of the late George C. and Ila Capel Snyder. He had served his country in the US Army, 4th Infantry in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Ellerbe and had attended First Presbyterian Church, Ellerbe. Charles retired from CSX Railroad, Roadway Department, after 31 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Rankin Snyder, an infant daughter and a brother, Grover Snyder. Surviving are his son, Edward Snyder and wife Sandra of Rockingham; his brother , Graham Snyder and wife Mollie of Ellerbe and his sister-in-law, Dot Snyder of Ellerbe. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Ellerbe with Rev. James Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home.
