Lucille Richardson Haywood, 91 of 133 Outside Lane, Rockingham died Saturday January 28, 2012 in Richmond Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Rockingham. Born August 16, 1920 in Richmond County a daughter of the late J.B and Belle Jenkins Richardson. She was a faithful member and Sunday school teacher at the Rockingham Church of Christ. She was a volunteer for Richmond County Hospice. Lucille and her sister Emma were recognized for their efforts of visiting the elderly nursing home residents in our area. Lucille enjoyed reading and writing and had several articles published in Carolina Country magazine. Preceded in death by her husband Hillard Benoist, a son Eugene Benoist and an infant daughter Janice, she is survived by four daughters; Carolyn B. Whitley and husband Hubert, Faye Honeycutt, Gayle Davis and Pamela Jopson all of Rockingham, a brother Melvin Richardson of Ellerbe and a sister Emma Starling of Rockingham, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Funeral is 12:00 noon Tuesday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home, burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
