Louise Burr Benson

Maggie Louise Burr Benson, 90, formerly of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 in Naples, Florida. Louise was born December 19, 1921 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Daniel and Victoria Conyers Burr. She married Streetie Benson on December 11, 1939 in Bennettsville, SC. He preceded her in death in 2004. Louise was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham and had retired from Beaunit/Avondale Mills. She was a devoted mother and proud grandmother who enjoyed bowling, line dancing, gardening and cooking. She will be greatly missed by her family. Louise was also preceded in death by and infant daughter, Norma Gwendolyn Benson, and brothers, Raymond Burr, Burtis Burr, Ralph Burr and Eddie Burr. Surviving are her son, Rodney Benson ( Joanne) of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Tina Benson Skenes (Carl) of Orlando, FL, and Victoria Benson Arick (Terry) of Naples, FL; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Daniel Burr, Jr., of Fairfax, VA, and a sister, Juanita Burr Baucom of Burlington, NC. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. Those wishing to pay respects may do so beginning at 9:00 am Thursday at Carter Funeral Home. The family will see friends from 1:30 to 2:45 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
