Bernice Laton Young

Bernice Elizabeth Laton Young, 84, a resident of Britthaven of Hamlet, formerly of Rockingham, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Britthaven. Mrs. Young was born July 4, 1923 in Moore County, a daughter of the late Price Lawson and Jessie Chappell Laton. She was a graduate of Hoffman High School and had retired from civil service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Clarence Young in 1993. Mrs. Young is survived by her daughter, Shirley Moore of Rockingham, grandson, Chris Moore and wife Kim, great grandson, Garrett Moore all of Whispering Pines and a sister, Thelma Louise Laton Capps and husband J.P. “Buddy” of Franklinville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Chapel of Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Alex Perakis and Rev. Donald Dawkins officiating. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the Moore home, 116 Country Club Rd. Rockingham. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to your church or to your fire department.
