Linnie Cox Alexander Walker, 94, of Rockingham, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Sandhills Regional Medical Center in Hamlet. Mrs. Walker was born December 28, 1917 in Scotland County, a daughter of the late Perry and Lynn Rainwater Cox. She was a longtime member of Sweethaven Church where she was active as long as she was able. She and her husband Lonnie Walker owned and operated Speedway Service in Marston for many years and she had also worked as a manager with Catos. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Walker, a daughter, Sue Dawkins Futrell and daughter-in-law, Kathy York Alexander. Surviving are her son, Mel Alexander of Rockingham; daughter, Wanda Crouch of Rockingham, son-in-law Lex Futrell; grandchildren, Torrey Alexander and wife Brooke, Broady Alexander, Cameron Alexander and wife Shannon and Skylar Futrell, 5 great grandchildren and she was awaiting the arrival of another great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 3pm Saturday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie McLean officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the Crouch home, 150 Zion Church Road, Rockingham.
