Mrs. Betty Jo Bullard Searcy, 75 of Rockingham passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital. Betty Jo was born June 30, 1936 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Bernice Merlin and Martha Ellen Adcock Bullard. She retired from Sandhurst and Sara Lee Hosiery where she worked in payroll and safety. She was an active member of Community Church in East Rockingham where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of both the DAV and the VFW. She was a proud graduate of the first class of Rohanen High School in 1954. She is survived by her husband Herman Searcy of the home, one son John Searcy and wife Sandy of Rockingham and one daughter Lorraine S. Eubanks and husband Danny of Rockingham, two grandchildren, Daniel Eubanks and wife Malena, and Zane Searcy both of Rockingham, three great grandchildren Jordan Eubanks, Braelyn Eubanks, and Marlie Eubanks; one sister Louise Wright and husband Terry Sr. of LaGrange GA. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at the Community Church in East Rockingham with Rev. Robbie Stewart, Rev. Eston Bailey, and Rev. Quinton Covington officiating. Interment will follow at Eastside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at her son’s home.
