Gene Lynch

Gene Martin Lynch, 68, of 554 Hwy 220 North, Rockingham died Monday, September 10, 2007 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. He was born July 23, 1939 in Richmond County, a son of the late Evander McIver Lynch, Sr. and Annie Martin Lynch. Mr. Lynch was retired with the U. S. Postal Service and was a member of Cameronian Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Rockingham Optimist Club. Mr. Lynch was a veteran, serving in the U. S. Navy. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, September 13th at Cameronian Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug Gebhard officiating. Interment will follow at Northam Cemetery with military honors. Surviving are his wife, Ellen McCaskill Lynch of the home; three sons, Don Lynch and wife Pam of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Kenneth Lynch and wife Kay of Rockingham, and Danny Lynch and wife Patricia of Cary; five grandchildren, Drew Lynch, Matthew Lynch, Jessica Lynch, Kelly Lynch, and Hannah Lynch. A brother, Evander M. Lynch, Jr, preceded Mr. Lynch in death. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
