Mrs. Nina Taylor Jordan, 87, of 748 Mill Rd. Hamlet, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 24, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Jordan was born October 15, 1919 in Richmond County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late S. Lonnie and Nancy Jane Williamson Taylor. She was a lifelong member of Cobb Memorial Baptist Church where she had been a member of the choir and was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class, and had retired from Springs Mills in Laurel Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Jordan in 1982, three sisters, Ola Mae Covington, Eva Black, Ruby Thompson, and 4 brothers, Robert Taylor, Leon Taylor, Bruce Taylor and Bennie Taylor. Surviving are her son, John A. Jordan, Jr. and wife Brenda of Hamlet, daughter, Norma Jordan Chavis and husband Cole of Rockingham, grandchildren, John A. Jordan, III of Hamlet, Lisa Jordan Gainey and husband Greg of Hamlet and a brother, Jack W. Taylor of Dallas, TX. A service to celebrate the life of Nina T. Jordan will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Cobb Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Bohannon officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the Chavis home, 136 Springdale Dr. Rockingham.
