Lewis "Thad" Saunders

Lewis Thad Saunders, 92 of Rockingham died Friday June 1, 2012 in First Health Hospice in Moore County, NC. Born March 12, 1920 a son of John and Annie Brewer Saunders , he was a US Army Veteran of WWII, a graduate of Tennessee Temple Bible College and a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church in Rockingham. His adult life was devoted to missionary work, concentrating on Jewish missions. He is survived by his wife Betty Jean Brown Saunders of the home, sons; Rev. Alan Saunders of Atlanta, Ivan Dean Saunders of Kernersville, NC., Jon Isreal Saunders of Miami, daughters; Brenda Saunders Hutchens of Miami and Nancy Saunders Guth of Trinidad. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A service to celebrate Thad’s life will be held 2:00pm Sunday June 3, 2012 at Temple Baptist Church in Rockingham officiated by Rev. Joey Byrd. Burial will be in the Veteran’s section of the Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at Temple Baptist Church.
