Jimmy Franklin Willoughby, 74, of Hamlet, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Carolina Specialty Hospital in Charlotte. Mr. Willoughby was born November 26, 1937 in Richmond County, a son of the late Leonard and Viola Goins Willoughby. He had been employed as an electrician with Aleo Manufacturing Company. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, brothers, Furman, Dewey and Odell Willoughby,a sister, Juanita Yates and a stepdaughter, Carol Faye Walters.. Surviving are his wife, Emily Stokes Willoughby of the home; brother, Johnny Willoughby of Rockingham; sisters, Peggy Chapman of Rock Hill, SC, Dotsy Marze of Seabrook, TX; step-sons, Buddy Thompson of Rockingham, Jack Canter and Dennis Canter of Indianapolis, IN; step-daughters, Doris Jean Smith of Wilmington, Barbara Ann Thorson of Statesville, Susan Edward and Kristi Canter of Indianapolis, IN, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Wilkes, and Rev. Walt Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
