Mrs. Elizabeth Meacham Lee, 91, of Grassy Island Rd. Ellerbe, passed away Friday, October 12, 2007 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Mrs. Lee was born June 20, 1916 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Richmond Jenkins and Willa Flora Cagle Meacham. She was a lifelong member of her beloved Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School, a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and sewing. Her husband, Furman C. Lee preceded her in death in 1986. Surviving are her son, Carl Lee and wife Jean of Rockingham, her daughters, Margaret Spivey of Ellerbe, Joan Postlethwait and husband Raymond of Durham, Amy Bowles and husband Edward of Summerville, SC, grandchildren, Edie and Jack Goldsmith of Lexington, SC, Edward T. Bowles, Jr. of Summerville, SC, David Spivey of Raleigh, Jennifer Leonard and husband Donovan of Boone, Scott and Ivette Lee of Miami, Fl, Elizabeth Lee Postlethwait of Raleigh, Raymond Postlethwait, Jr. and William Postlethwait both of Durham, great grandchildren, Jackson, Carter and Grant Goldsmith of Lexington, SC., Luciana Lee of Miami, FL,a brother Ralph Meacham of Ellerbe, and a good neighbor, Audrey Ussery. A service to celebrate Mrs. Lee’s life will be held 2:00 PM Monday at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on Grassy Island Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cemetery Fund of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 213 Ellerbe, NC 28338.
