Blondie Eve Morse, 95, of Richmond, Virginia and formerly of Rockingham, North Carolina, died on Sunday October 14, 2007. Ms. Morse was born December 9, 1911 in Richmond County, NC, a daughter of the late Ellis Burian and Annie E. Hicks Morse. Ms Morse held a degree in Piano from Meredith College and graduate degrees in Music and Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She spent several years as a sportswear buyer before returning to Rockingham where she became a teacher and later a librarian.. She was a founder of the Rockingham Music Club and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Rockingham Garden Club, and the 76 Library Club. She served as organist for the First United Methodist Church and for the First Church of Christ Scientist in Southern Pines, North Carolina where she was a member. In 1991 she was honored as Citizen of the Year by the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce. Surviving are two nieces, Carolyn (Morse) Ellyson of Richmond VA, and Ann (Morse) Nance and husband Harold of Amelia, VA, a nephew Ellis B. Morse, III and wife Barbara of Richmond, VA, and several great nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham Rev. Don Bearfield, and Kay Stoffell officiating. Interment will be private in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends following the memorial service at the funeral home.
