Mary Louise Clark, 91 of Rockingham passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at Cobb Memorial Baptist Church Tuesday, August 7th at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Chuck McKnight and Pastor June Grant officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond county Memorial Park. She will be buried beside her husband of 52 years, Pharaoh Clark, who died in 1993, a Navy veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart Recipient. Visitation will be held at Cobb Memorial Baptist Church, Monday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and at other times at the home of her daughter Joann Starling 800 Battley Dairy Road Rockingham. Mary was born August 25, 1920 in Blenheim S.C. and had been a resident of Rockingham, since 1940 and a member of Cobb Memorial Baptist Church since 1946. She retired from the textile industry in 1978, spent her retirement years growing vegetables, working with her flowers, active in her church and caring for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a granddaughter. She is survived by a brother and Sister Johnny Wilbur McDowell and Ruth M Cousins' of Bennettsville S.C. Her children Wayne Clark and wife Jeannette of Florence S.C., Joann C. Starling and husband Tony, Sandra. Smith and husband Lewis, Leon Clark and wife Wanda all of Rockingham, Ricky Clark and wife Robin of Robbins, N.C. 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 cousins. The family wishes a special thanks to her cousin, Margaret Grice Ponds, for her help during her declining years and a special thanks to her Pastor and church members who have been friends during her illness with visits, cards and other acts of kindness.
