Ruth Marks Jenkins of Rockingham, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Mrs. Jenkins was born June 14, 1922 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Marks of Rockingham. She, along with her husband Clyde Jenkins, in 1959 started Jenkins Automotive and Industrial Supply, Inc., where she served as secretary/treasurer of the company. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Rockingham, having served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rockingham Women’s Club, and the Rockingham Garden Club. Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Jenkins; her parents, Frank and Mary Marks of Rockingham; brothers, Ellis Marks of Monroe and Leroy Marks of Laurinburg. Surviving are her sons, Joseph C. Jenkins, Jr. and wife Rosamond of Greensboro, Franklin C. Jenkins and wife Patti of Ellerbe, Graham M. Jenkins of Rockingham; grandchildrem, Lauren J. Seifried and husband Ethan of Atlanta, GA, Tait Humphries and wife Leslie of Trinity, NC, Abbey Jenkins of Burlington, NC, Catherine Shelley and husband Ricky of Hamlet, NC, Madison R. Jenkins of Rockingham, NC; great-grandchildren, Ella Shelley of Hamlet, NC, Ty and Rachel Humphries of Trinity, NC, Liam Seifried of Atlanta, GA; and a sister, Evelyn Marks of Rockingham, NC. A service to celebrate the life of Ruth Jenkins will be held at 11 am Thursday at First Baptist Church of Rockingham, with Rev. Dr. James Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. A gathering of friends will be held from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
