William Charlie Darnell, 66, of 115 N. Park Dr. Rockingham, died October 30, 2007 at his home. Mr. Darnell was born February 4, 1941 in Stokes County, a son of the late B.F. and Myrtie Johnson Darnell. He had served his country in the US Army, attended West Rockingham Church of God and had recently retired from Richmond Yarns . Charlie loved Bluegrass music, was a member of No Limit Bluegrass band and a fine fiddle player. His wife, Margie Louise Humphries Darnell preceded him in death in 2004. Surviving are his son Lynnwood Coleman and wife Sharon of Rockingham, a granddaughter, Angela Coleman of Rockingham, brothers, Howell Darnell and B.F. Darnell, Jr., both of Ellerbe, sisters, Bobbie Covington of Norman and Norma Sue Bright of Hope Mills, nieces and nephews, Kay Miller, Faye Meginnis, Lee Covington, Pam Ringled, Chele Hayes, Gray Darnell, Douglas Darnell, Cindy Bradshaw and Jason Darnell, as well as a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday in the Carter Funeral Home Ellerbe Chapel with Rev. Bobby Haney officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the B.F. Darnell, Jr. home, 117 Hudson Dr. Ellerbe.
