Doris Beatrice Farmer Capps, 92, of Rockingham, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Mrs. Capps was born April 21, 1920 in Atlanta, Ga. At an early age, she and her sister went to live with their uncle and aunt, William H. and Beatrice McCall, who brought them to Richmond County. She attended Coker College and the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina. She retired from the Richmond County Library, where she was an Assitant Librarian. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Circle 3. Her husband of 66 years, Robert “Billy” Capps and her sister, Lucy Russell, preceded her in death. Surviving are her son, Carlyle Capps and wife Sue of Alameda, CA; daughter, Bebe C. Blackmon of Hamlet; grandchildren, Angie Wiggins and husband Keith, Chris Blackmon and wife Rhonda; and great grandchildren, Josh and Amber Wiggins and Krystal and C.J. Blackmon. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Sykes and Rev. Allison Farrah officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends from 10 – 10:45 am Thursday at the church and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 410 E.
