Willowdean Batten West

Willowdean Batten West, 75, of Rockingham, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at her home. Mrs. West was born June 9, 1937 in Johnston County, a daughter of the late Garland and Dora Peedin Batten. She attended Victory Baptist Church, had been employed in Vending with Burlington Industries and was an apartment complex manager for several years. Surviving are her husband. Freddie Lee West of the home; son, Richard Conde of Rockingham; granddaughter, Natasha Dimery of Cordova; Step Children, Marcus West of Hamlet, Brenda Ladner of Pennsylvania, Patricia Hatcher of Hamlet; step grandchildren, Melody Jones of Laurinburg, Michelle Brown, Heather Paxton, Christopher Roscoe, Nicole Williams, all of Rockingham, Brian West of Hamlet, Jessica White of Pennsylvania; 18 great-grandchildren and a sister, Nancy Edwards of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
