Mrs. Ida Martin Pegram, 81, of Charlotte, formerly of Rockingham, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Carolinas Medical Center of Pineville. Mrs. Pegram was born September 7, 1926 in Warren County, NC a daughter of the late William and Josephine Cheek Martin. She was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, received her Nursing Degree from Sandhills Community College and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, was a member of the North Carolina Branch of the American Nurses Association and had retired from Richmond Memorial Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rockingham where she had been active in the Disciple Bible Class, the Ladies Bible Study, the Methodist Youth Fellowship and a Sunday School Teacher. Her husband, Amiel D. Pegram preceded her in death in 1999. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Kenneth and Ricki Pegram of Manchester, NH, her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Buddy Giles of Charlotte, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a brother, William Martin, Jr. and wife Sue of Forest Park, GA, a sister, Audrey Ewing and husband Robert of Rockingham, sisters-in-law, Devera Bowman of Hanover, PA, Joyce Wheless of Seaford, Va, Kate Hagler and husband John of Columbus, GA, Barbara Thomas and husband Jerry of Rockingham and many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Mrs. Pegram’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday from First United Methodist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Keith Nanney and Rev. Leonard Mayo officiating. Inurnment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at First United Methodist Church on Saturday.
