Violet Spencer

Violet Melton Spencer, 80, of 424 Richmond Road, Rockingham died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Britthaven of Hamlet. She was born January 16, 1927 in Richmond County, daughter of the late Rev. R. C. and Annie Melton. Mrs. Spencer was retired from the textile industry, working primarily with J. P. Stevens at Hannah Pickett. She was active for many years with the Cub Scouts. Funeral services will be conducted graveside 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 5th at Eastside Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Tuttle officiating. Surviving are two sons, C. Dane Spencer of Chapel Hill and Dale Spencer of Rockingham; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. A son, Ted Spencer, preceded Mrs. Spencer in death. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 pm Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
