Shirley Webb

Shirley Shepherd Webb, RN, COHN, 72, of 142 Hudson Street, Rockingham died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Carolinas Medical Center Mercy Hospital in Charlotte. She was born November 21, 1935 in Salisbury, the daughter of the late L. L. and Adine Newman Shepherd. Mrs. Webb was a 1954 graduate of Rockingham High School and a 1957 graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at Richmond Memorial Hospital for almost ten years, and then several years at Beaunit Textiles, before going to Sara Lee Hosiery as their nurse for twenty-four years. After her retirement, Mrs. Webb has been with the Richmond County Health Department working part time since 1995. She was a faithful member of Roberdell United Methodist Church, where she held numerous positions, taught Sunday school , and sang in the choir for many years. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, December 9th at Roberdell United Methodist Church with Rev. Clark Barfield officiating. Interment will follow in Bear Branch Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, Burnie Webb of the home; two daughters, Julie Webb Currie and husband Will of Rockingham and Bonnie Webb Pence and husband Jerome of Wagram and Linville; one grandson, William A. Currie, IV (Little Will); and one brother, Harold Shepherd of Rockingham. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 3 to 5 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home on Hudson St. Memorials may be sent to Roberdell United Methodist Church, c/o Church Parsonage, 141 Bear Branch Rd., Rockingham, NC 28379.
