Shirley Ann Greene

Shirley Ann Byrd Greene, 57, of 195 Hydro Road, Mt. Gilead died Friday October 5, 2012 at her home. She was born August 19, 1955 in Montgomery County, NC a daughter of the late Liam P. and Sally Anne Greene Byrd. She worked as a knitter for Russell and Harvell Hosiery and attended Hamer Creek Church. Shirley will be remembered as a great cook a wonderful homemaker and a courageous cancer survivor. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Tammy Ann Greene and her brothers; Buck Roy Byrd, David Byrd, Johnny Byrd, Bill Byrd and Bobby Lee Byrd. She is survived by her husband Robert Wayne Greene of the home, sons; Johnny Wayne Greene of Ellerbe, Charles Allen Greene of Troy and Scott Daniel Greene of Mt. Gilead, a brother Buddy Ray Byrd of Norwood, sisters; Isabelle Carter of Troy and Louise Beitzel of Mt. Gilead, her grandchildren; Mary Elizabeth Williamson, Justin Lee Greene, Kerrie Ann Greene, Kyndall Nicole Greene, Marissa Sweet and Kasey Lynn Greene and one great grandchild, Conner Fish. Also surviving are very special friends William David Greene and Stephen Martin, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm. Monday October 8, 2012 at Carter Funeral Chapel in Ellerbe. Rev. Brantley Moore and Rev. Clyde Allen will officiate, burial will follow in Little River United Methodist Church Cemetery.
