Rada Hawks Cooper

Mrs. Rada Hawks Cooper, 94, of 278 Bethany Rd, Ellerbe died Friday, December 28, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Cooper was born May 22, 1913 in Patrick County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Sam and Priscilla Bowman Hawks. She attended Bethel Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Her husband, Ralph Lee Cooper and a special niece, Priscilla Kirkley preceded her in death. Surviving are her sons, Elijah Cooper and wife Sherry of Ellerbe, Joe Cooper and wife Tammy of Ellerbe, daughters, Hilda Cooper-Kolasinski and husband John of Greenbelt, MD, Lu Ella Brashier and husband Richard of Lynchburg, VA, Jane Hardmon of Severna Park, MD., and 7 grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Ed Hawks of Charlotte, sisters, Sue Robinson of Mt. Airy, NC , Gladys Colen of Hamlet, and special nephews, Gray Hawks of Hamlet, Tom Hawks of West End and Larry Hawks of Albemarle. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday in the Carter Funeral Home Ellerbe Chapel with Rev. Tim Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM Sunday at the funeral home and at other times at the home on Bethany Road.
