Lenell Alexander Byrd

Lenell Alexander Byrd, 82, of Rockingham, died Friday, October 26, 2012 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mr. Byrd was born January 23, 1930 in Montgomery County, NC, a son of the late Titus and Viola Smith Byrd. He had served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, attended the Church of God of Prophecy and had retired from Hannah Pickett Manufacturing. He was preceded in death by his wives, Patricia Dawkins Byrd and Vida Johnson Page Byrd and his son-in-law, Timothy Watts, Jr. Surviving are his daughter, Pamela B. Watts of Rockingham; granddaughter, Richelle Taylor and husband Mike of Rockingham; brothers, Johnny Byrd and wife Ann of Greensboro, Alton Byrd and wife Dee of Tennessee and a sister, JoAnn Blue and husband Bill of Mt. Gilead. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Frank McQuage officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park with military honors. The family will see friends from 12:45 to 1:45 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at his granddaughters home, 121 Crestmont Dr, Rockingham.
